Publications Ethics
The ARJ Journal is a journal published by Einstein College. This statement clarifies the ethical behavior of all parties involved in the publication process of articles in this journal: authors, editors, and reviewers.
Author's Duties
- Authors must write manuscripts in the form of articles based on accurate reports of original research.
- Authors cite every reference used in the manuscript in accordance with the principles of scientific writing.
- Authors must ensure that the manuscript is free of plagiarism.
- Authors must ensure that the manuscript submitted to the AJR Journal has not been published elsewhere and is not currently being submitted to another journal.
- Authors must agree on the roles of each contributor in writing the article and must agree in advance on the co-authorship of the main author and co-authors.
- Authors ensure that the research activities are conducted in accordance with the code of ethics.
- When an author discovers a significant error or inaccuracy in a published manuscript, it is the author's obligation to promptly notify the journal editor or publisher and cooperate with the editor to retract or correct the manuscript.
Duties of the Editor
- The editor of the AJR Journal is responsible for deciding which articles should be published based on input from reviewers. Editors may discuss this decision with reviewers.
- Editors evaluate manuscripts without regard to the author's race, gender, sexual orientation, religious beliefs, ethnic origin, citizenship, or political philosophy.
- The editor will ensure that articles align with the journal's scientific focus/scope. The reviewers' responses will serve as the basis for the editor's decision to accept, accept with major/minor revision, or reject an article.
- Articles are rejected for publication for various reasons, including those that do not fit the journal's scope, the scientific merit of the article being insufficient for scientific publication, fundamental methodological errors, or the author's refusal to implement the reviewer's suggestions for improvement without a sound basis.
- The order of publication is determined by the order in which articles and revisions are submitted to the editorial board.
- Editors must not disclose any information about submitted manuscripts to anyone other than the author, including reviewers.
- Unpublished materials disclosed in a manuscript must not be used in the editor's own research without the author's written consent.
Reviewer Duties
- Reviewers assist the editor in making editorial decisions and in communicating editorial opinions to the author. Reviewers' assistance involves reviewing the content of manuscripts/articles.
- Any manuscripts received for review must be treated as confidential documents. They must not be shown to or discussed with others except as authorized by the editor.
- Reviews must be conducted objectively and supported by sound scientific principles.
